POWERGRID Ensures Speedy Restoration of Transmission Lines
New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, has restored 54 nos. of transmission lines on war footing within 24 to 30 hours which had been damaged in the severe windstorms of speed up to 130 km/hr that hit several parts of India in May 2018 damaging many transmission elements. About 66 nos. of transmission elements including damage of the number of sub-station equipments were reported.
Work for the restoration of balance 12 nos. of transmission lines is in full swing with the mobilization of 39 nos. of gangs consisting of 1,000+ persons and is expected to be restored by first week of June, 2018.
Swift action taken by POWERGRID for the restoration of line/substation equipments minimized the impact of line trippings on the National Grid and the company was able to meet the power demand of 160 GW of the country, which is the highest so far.
