Sh Suresh Prabhu interacts with IRCTC and other agencies to access their websites for e-marketing and showcasing

New Delhi. Under IRCTC’s e-catering services, providing meals through SHGs was conceptualized following announcement in the Railway Budget by UNion Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu towards increasing the choice of local/regional cuisines to the passengers travelling on trains. 
 
In view of making this initiative a success story a high level meeting was held in Railway Board which was chaired by Sh Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Minister for Railways. Apart from Dr. A K Manocha and G M Singh from IRCTC the meeting was attended by Sh Md. Jamshed, MT, Sh Sanjiv Garg, AM T & C, Smt Smita Rawat, ED T & C, and Smt Shelly Srivastava Director T&C Railway Board. The officers from NSIC, NABARD, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Culture, Ministry for Rural Development, Ministry of Tribal welfare & TRIFED also attended the meeting. 
 
Shri Suresh Prabhu emphasized on the effective utilization of IRCTC e-catering platform for marketing of handicrafts, ethnic foods, tourism destinations, housekeeping services being offered by various SHGs across the country. He asserted that NABARD should become a nodal agency for channelizing the association of various SHGs providing such services and that other departments and ministries should also come up with action plan for similar projects. 
 
Sh. Prabhu directed that interaction level between various stakeholders should be increased so as to arrive at the achievement level desired and sustainable development of SHGs and also directed IRCTC to train people for high end jobs in catering and hospitality industry. 
 
CMD IRCTC brought out that IRCTC is already imparting training to approx. 1000 persons every year from weaker sections of society so as to get meaningful employment in catering industry through Hunar se Rozgar Tak Yojana for which funds are given by Ministry of Tourism.
