National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation organized by SJVN

New Delhi: Shri Suresh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Himachal Pradesh presided over the State Level Painting Competition under National Awareness Campaign on Energy Conservation organized by SJVN at Shakti Sadan, SJVN Corporate Office Complex, Shanan Shimla, Himachal Pradesh on November 13, 2019. While officials from Government of Himachal Pradesh, Sh. K.K Pant, Principal Secretary (Education) and Dr Amarjit Kumar Sharma, Director Higher Education also graced the occasion.
 
In her welcome address, Director (Personnel), SJVN, Smt. Geeta Kapur extended warm welcome to the Hon’ble chief guest of the occasion and also congratulated all the participants who showcased their brilliant efforts during the Painting Competition.
 
In his speech, Shri Suresh Bhardwaj, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Himachal Pradesh, applauded the efforts of Team SJVN under the visionary leadership of Chairman & Managing Director, Sh. Nand Lal Sharma in organizing this State Level Painting Competition successfully. He appreciated the efforts of students, their parents & teachers in propagation of message of Energy Conservation. He insisted that younger generation can propagate the message of energy conservation far and wide, which will definitely lead to a better future.
 
Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has launched the National Awareness Campaign to promote Energy Conservation in the country. Painting competition for students at School, State and National level has been included as one of the activities of the campaign, which would not only make them aware about the need of conserving energy but at the same time educate and involve their parents in the above cause. The identified activity is one of the measures, which also helps in creating awareness in the domestic sector.
 
The competition is being organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). Commendable work has been done in the field of conservation of energy in collaboration with state governments, government and non-governmental organizations.
SJVN is the Nodal Agency for organizing Painting Competition at School & State Level in Himachal Pradesh. The competition being organized by SJVN, is an exemplary effort to provide platform to the students to showcase their creativity and also make them aware about Energy Conservation.
 
The Painting Competition is organized under two categories- Category 'A' for 4th to 6th class students and Category 'B' for 7th to 9th class students. SJVN in association with Directorate of Education, Himachal Pradesh invited paintings from all Schools of Himachal Pradesh.
The competition is being organized in three phases - School, State and National level. For the first phase of the Competition, all the invited schools conduct a painting competition at the school level and submit two paintings to SJVN. In the second phase of the competition, 50 best paintings are selected from each category (A & B). All the 100 participants have been invited for the State Level Competition on November 13, 2019 at Shakti Sadan, SJVN Corporate office, Shanan, Shimla.
 
Continuously growing participation of the students in this Painting Competition being organized by SJVN is the testimony of their enhanced interest and awareness towards Energy Conservation. This year, in Category A, 414866 students of 10104 schools participated, while in Category B, 313010 students of 5773 schools participated in this competition .
 
For both the Categories, First prize of Rs 50,000/-, Second prize for Rs 30,000/-, Third prize of Rs 20,000/- and ten Consolation prizes of Rs 7,500/- each will be awarded to the winners. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners of both Categories of the State Level Painting Competition will be eligible to participate in the National Level Painting Competition which will be held in New Delhi during December 2019.
