NHPC extends bidding for modernization of 690-MW Salal hydro project
NEW DELHI . NHPC Ltd. seeks bids for renovation and modernization of the 690-MW Salal hydroelectric project in Jammu & Kashmir State. Bids now are due October 8.
NHPC previously called for bids by August 22. The government-backed developer recently announced plans to commission its 240-MW Uri 2 hydropower plant also in Jammu & Kashmir.
Salal comprises Salal 1 and Salal 2, each of which has three 115-MW vertical shaft Francis turbine-generators. NHPC sought suppliers in 2008 for automation and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) equipment for Salal and five other hydroelectric projects.
NHPC now seeks renovation and modernization of Salal with the requirement that bidders have experience in design, model testing, manufacture, and supply of a vertical-shaft Francis turbine runner with a rated output of 70 MW or higher.
