CMD RINL Calls for Pro-active and Participative Culture
Vishakhapatnam: RINL-VSP organised the Annual Quality Circles, Suggestion Scheme and 5S* (Work Place Management) recognition function at Multipurpose Hall, Ukkunagaram to recognize the efforts of QC members, Suggestors and 5S depts. Shri P K Rath, CMD, RINL was the chief guest. Shri P Raychaudhury, Director (Commercial) & I/c Projects, Shri K C Das, Director (Personnel) were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri P K Rath called upon the employees to explore the inherent skills to achieve excellence in their work areas and evolve a pro-active and participative culture to exhibit the talents and creativity to enhance the image of the organization and take RINL to further heights of excellence. He said that the Company is in a very critical phase in terms of technology absorption and the success would largely depend on how we adopt and assimilate the new technologies. He highlighted the need to utilize the wealth of experience of RINL collective, who are known for highly innovative and competent in the steel industry. He observed that small group activities like Quality Circles bring out the creativity and combined knowledge would help in solving the teething problems in the company. He expressed confidence that with the harnessing the potential of all employees, the organization would be benefitted in terms of quick stabilization, reducing wastage and devising new methods of solving problems.
Shri K.C. Das, Director (Personnel), RINL exhorted the Management Services Department to play a vital role in orienting people in the right direction for deriving the best from them in a competitive manner. He congratulated the winners for bringing name and fame to the organization on the occasion.
Shri P K Rath felicitated three Creativity Award winners under Suggestion Scheme, VRP and ICQCC award winning teams. Shri P Raychaudhury, Director (C) & I/c Projects, Shri K C Das, Director (Project), Shri OR Ramani, ED (W) I/c and Shri R Nagarajan, ED (Projects) I/c distributed mementoes/ Certificates/trophies to the best suggestions, best depts. coordinators, evaluators under suggestion scheme, best QC teams, best QC facilitators, QC leaders and best QC departments, Best 5S departments & coordinators.
A total of 4412 QC projects were implemented during 2017-18, resulting in a saving of Rs. 21.93 crores and 20,364 suggestions have yielded a saving of Rs. 11.39 crores during the same period. The entire Organization was recertified for 5S compliance.
Executive Directors, GMs, HODs, Sr. Officers, Representatives of Unions, SC/ST association, SEA, WIPS, Facilitators, Members and Co-ordinators also attended the function. The function was conducted by Management Services Department.
*5S represents Japanese words that describe the steps of a workplace organization process. English equivalent words are shown in parenthesis
