Centre fills up five posts of independent directors at Coal India

KOLKATA: The government on November 17 filled up the posts of five independent directors at Coal India`s board, out of the total seven posts, which had been lying vacant for more than a year.
 
 
 
The five independent directors have been appointed for the next three years. The list includes Loretta Mary Vas, an IAS officer and former secretary in the government; PC Panigrahi, a director at Indian
 
School of Mines; Khanindra Pathak, head of IIT Kharagpur; Satish Balram Agnihotri, former secret  in the central government; and Vinod Jain a chartered secretar Coal India is now expected to take policy
 
decisions for the long-term and decide on large investment  sums at a time when the government has asked the company to double production by 2020.
