Former Chairman ONGC Col Satya Pal Wahi passes away
NEW DELHI. A great PSU leader Former Chairman of the ONGC Col Satya Pal Wahi has passed away in Gurgaon. He was 88. A visionary leader with ability of execution par excellence ...and at the same time height of Humility and respect demonstrated always.!!
ONGC bids adieu to Former Chairman Col Wahi. He will always remain in our hearts! Col. Wahi was one of the most outstanding chairman of ONGC. His tenure at ONGC lasted for over eight years in 1980’s. He is credited with successfully developing Bombay High-India’s most prolific offshore oilfield.
During his illustrious career, Col Wahi has held several prestigious positions including the Chairman of the Oil and Natural Gas Commission (ONGC - 1981-1989), Chairman & Managing Director of the Cement Corporation of India (CCI), Chairman Bharat Ophthalmic Glass Ltd. and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of Public Enterprises (SCOPE). In November 2005, Col Wahi was appointed Chairman of NITIE, National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai.
Col Wahi He was instrumental in leading negotiations on behalf of the Government of India for several joint ventures and financing transactions with global financial institutions including the World Bank.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the oil sector in India, Col Wahi was awarded the Padma Bhushan, a National award in 1987 by the President of India.
Col. Wahi has over 50 articles on Oil, Energy, Leadership, Corporate Governance, published in National and international publications/magazines. His book “Leading from the Front” published by Sterling Publishers has been a big success in Corporate Leadership.
