GAIL DBPL project receives Platts Premier Project Construction Award for 2013
New Delhi, GAIL`s 1000 Kms Dabhol-Bengaluru Pipeline Project has been awarded as Premier Project in large construction category at Platts Global Energy Awards 2013 held in New York City. Mr. Jayanta Sinha, President, GAIL Global (USA) Inc. Houston, a wholly owned subsidiary of GAIL (India) Limited received the award on behalf of the Company.
Nominations were received from more than 25 countries including Brazil, India, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Russia, Switzerland, Argentina, China, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Thailand, United Kingdom and the United States. Finalists were chosen from a list of over 200 nominations, based on their performance for each category's criteria within the designated time frame. Winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges including former regulators, past heads of major energy companies, leading academics, and international energy experts.
The Dabhol-Bengaluru pipeline was recently dedicated to the nation by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India during the 8th Asia Gas Partnership Summit 2013. The Rs. 4508 crore, 1000 Km long High pressure Dabhol-Bengaluru Gas Pipeline Project of various diameters, designed to transport 16 MMSCMD of RLNG from Dabhol is a first-of-its-kind undertaken in the difficult terrain of Western Ghats. This ambitious project is an important limb of National Gas Grid and opens Southern India to various sources of natural gas. This project will enable the States of Goa and Karnataka to use the most environment friendly green fuel for the first time.
