HEC Signs Agreement with OKMB

Ranchi: Heavy Engineering Corporation, has struck deed with OKBM of Russia for transfer technology for the manufacture of components aimed at the nuclear power plant at Moscow.
The agreement was signed by Shri Rana S Charkarvarty, Director (Marketing), HEC and Shri V V Petrunin, OKBM on 19th May 2018. Shri Avijit Ghosh, CMD, HEC congratulated the visiting HEC team on Signing of this important agreement with OKBM.
Joint Stock Company 'I.I.Afrikntov OKB Mechanical Engineering' (Nizhny Novgorod, 'Rosatom' State Corporation enterprise) is the pioneer in advanced technologies and know-how and the leader in the development of nuclear power component power equipment of PHWR (Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor) and VVER (Voda Voda Energo Reactor) of 700 MW to 1000 MW- capacity. HEC is diversifying from its conventional business area of steel & Mining sector in to strategic sectors like defence and nuclear energy. The future business of HEC as prepared by Ernst & Young has put more Emphasis on this strategic sector business.
Government of India has decided to construct ten 700 MW PHWR nuclear power plants in India. The scope of present agreements covers four major components of 700 MW PHWR i.e. Steam Generator Calandria, End Shield and Inlet Outlet Header. The total business covered under these four items will be to the tune of Rs. 20,000 crores out of total cost of ten rectors to the tune of Rs. 36,000 crores. HEC is targeting annual business of Rs. 150-200 crores out of it, with this perspective HEC has already entered in to a transfer of technology agreement with CNIITMASH of russia for the manufacture of nuclear & thermal of nuclear & thermal power components and ship shafts. The HEC Team currently Russia will have further discussion with Baltic Shipyard and Rubin at St Petersburg for technical tieup on designing propeller shafting for naval ships.
