IRCTC makes it to Fortune India Next 500 list of companies for the third year Improves its ranking from 199 to 62

New Delhi: Riding on the robust performance of all its verticals, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a Miniratna PSU under the Railway Ministry, has taken a big leap in ranking by improving its ranking from 199 in 2016 to 62 in 2017 in the prestigious Fortune India Next 500 list of Indian companies. IRCTC was placed 328 in 2015.

The fortune India list of Next 500 companies determines India's largest mid-sized companies by revenue.

This improvement in ranking comes after the Mini-Ratna PSU received the D&B "Top PSU Award 2017" for tourist service.

The companies finding a place in the Next 500 list are drawn from various sectors like food and agri products, pharma, Information Technology, iron and steel and financial services, and are capable of breaking into the Fortune India 500.

The mandate assigned to IRCTC is to professionalize, upgrade and manage the catering and hospitality services at stations, on trains and other locations with best industry practices. Its ambitious mandate also includes fostering domestic and international tourism through development of budget hotels, special tour packages and global reservation systems.
IRCTC provides end-to-end solution for both rail and air passengers by facilitating all their requirements.

IRCTC has four important verticals: catering and hospitality, e-ticketing, Tourism and Rail Neer (packaged drinking water). Over the last 2-3 years, IRCTC has been making robust strides in all its verticals, especially through leveraging the IT to extend the portfolio of passenger amenities in the areas of e-ticketing and e-catering.
In accordance with Railway Budget announcement 2016 by Hon’ble Minister of Railways, IRCTC is going to be entrusted to take over catering services of all trains on Indian Railways in a phased manner. IRCTC has already initiated the process for the same with detailed plans for smooth transition.
