Largest standalone CSR initiative by ONGC

Sibsagar: Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas (I/C), accompanied by Shri Dinesh K Sarraf CMD, ONGC dedicated the ONGC multi-specialty hospital ‘Chaolung Sukaphaa’ to the people of Assam, with an investment of Rs 313 crore by ONGC. The Bhoomi Pujan ceremony took place today amidst a huge gathering of locals from different parts of Upper Assam and peoples’ representatives at Rajabari, Sibsagar District, Assam yesterday. 
 
Endorsing the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister of ‘building modern infrastructure in Northeast’ and to unlock its potential ONGC under its CSR initiative is spearheading the multi-specialty hospital in the region. The hospital is dedicated to the people of Assam to ensure quality and affordable healthcare. 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sarbananda Sonowalappreciated ONGC for considering the name of maker of unified Assam, Chaolung Sukaphaa, for the upcoming hospital. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the Assam CM and ONGC for making efforts in conceptualizing the multi-specialty hospital. 
 
Mr Dinesh K Sarraf, speaking on the occasion said, ONGC is committed to improve the health index of Assam and especially Sibsagar. The upcoming multi-specialty hospital to be built by ONGC under CSR in association with Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vaidhyakia Prathisthan at a cost of Rs 313 Crore in Sibsagar is one such initiative of the company. Further, he explained the functionality of the upcoming hospital. 
 
“This not-for-profit hospital will offer services at a price which is 70 percent less than the market price and will train the local people in medical services. This is the largest CSR initiative of ONGC till date”, he added. He thanked the people of Assam for cooperating with ONGC in its exploration and production activities in the region.
