Manav Rachna International University and PRSI Organise Inter University Media Quiz

New Delhi: The Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities (FMeH) of the Manav Rachna International University, in association with the Delhi Chapter of the Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), the apex body of Public Relations practitioners in the country, today organised an Inter-University/College Media Quiz in its campus as part of an initiative to promote awareness and knowledge sharing among students.
A number of students from colleges affiliated to the Delhi University and also other private Universities took part in the event. The Quiz covered the spheres of PR, media, advertising, communication concepts, branding and PR leaders, current events and issues.
Kanhaiya Prabhakar and Aakash Verma from Delhi University won the first prize in the competition while the second was bagged by Aditya Singh from Campus Law Centre and third prize went to Manas Dwivedi and Akash Ranjan Singh from IIMC.
The winners took home cash prizes of Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 (first, second and third positions) respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr S Rajagopalan, Chairman, PRSI (Delhi Chapter) said the association seeks to promote the recognition of public relations as a profession and to formulate and interpret to the public the objectives and the potentialities of PR as a strategic management function. “PRSI tries to nurture journalism and PR students in the required skill sets. We do a lot of programmes to promote the skills of PR, like organising conferences, Quiz competitions etc for students in the field of PR and Communication, Media and Advertising.”
 Commending the efforts of the PRSI and the FMeH in organising the Quiz, MRIU’s Vice Chancellor Dr N C Wadhwa said such events provide a competitive platform to students to demonstrate their skills. It helps them in building up an aptitude for lateral thinking, teamwork and decision making under pressure and at the same time providing the right kind of entertainment.
Dr Neemo Dhar, Dean, Faculty of Media Studies and Humanities, said our effort at MRIU has been to help students strengthen their knowledge base and awareness and organising the Quiz was a step in that direction. “As budding media professionals, students must be more aware about issues across sectors, both current and past. Participation is such competitions would compel them to read more and articulate better. It would help them benchmark their skills with their peers and engage with each other in a healthy competitive environment.”
Mr Anurag Krishna, Corporate Social Responsibility Lead (North from TCS, was the quiz master.  Mr Vijay Kak, Assistant Vice President, Express Group, Mr Nilesh Sharma and Shibendra Bhattacharjee both Senior Managers with the Express Group were present on the occasion.
