Singrauli:  Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), Celebrated 70th Republic Day with full Zeal and Fervor. Shri P. K. Sinha, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD), NCL hoisted national flag and inspected the parade on the occasion. While addressing the central celebration of nation's '70th Republic' Day as chief guest at Singrauli Stadium located at NCL Headquarters, he said that NCL will start a research centre- SARAS (Science & Applied Research Alliance & Support) to aim at strengthening the research & innovation capabilities of the company. Aligned with one of the top national priorities of present times- the innovation- SARAS will help the company build a robust innovation framework for works related to mining, environmental conservation and CSR.
 
On this occasion, Director (Technical/Operations) Shri Gunadhar Pandey, Director (Technical/Project & Planning) Shri P.M. Prasad, Director (Finance), Shri N.N. Thakur, NCL JCC member Shri Hiramni Yadav, CMOAI President Shri Tarkeshwar Prasad, President, Kriti Mahila Mandal Smt Sangita Sinha and Vice President Smt Pratima Pandey and Smt Nilu Thakur were present as guests of honour.
 
CMD Shri P.K. Sinha while greeting everyone on the occasion 70th Republic Day said that NCL is committed to ensuring energy security of the nation and is producing 15 % of total coal production of the nation. It is NCL’s coal which helps generate around 10 % of the total electricity generated in the country.
 
Simultaneously, NCL has made a budget of about Rs 28.37 Crores to contribute to the 'Transform Singrauli' initiative run by the district administration for the rapid and overall development of Singrauli district. Under the initiative, NCL is working on 136 projects of development in areas like education, health, infrastructure development in 49 Gram-Panchayats and municipal wards. As a result of incessant efforts of the company, Singrauli District has now ascended to 13th position from the position of third last in the list of aspiring districts released in last January.
 
Prior to this, the celebrations began with flagging off of Sadbhavna Daud at 7 am after which national flag was unfurled by Director (Technical/Operations) NCL at Headquarters premises. In his address, Shri Pandey expressed gratitude towards all stakeholders and talked at length about the company’s planning and execution framework in grand targets.
 
CHRIST JYOTI BECOMES WINNER IN CULTURAL PROGRAMME
 
In central celebrations, students of various schools presented cultural programmes. The team of Christ Jyoti Senior Secondary School became the winner of the programme while Saraswati Shishu Mandir Higher Secondary School secured the second position and Kendriya Vidyalaya was at the third position. In yet another category, the awards for best platoons were presented to march past platoons of schools for synchronized efforts during the march past.
 
KRISHNASHILA FIRST IN HOUSEKEEPING
 
For promoting better upkeep and maintenance of the company’s in-house infrastructure like rest shelter, canteen, guest houses etc, a housekeeping audit was carried out in which projects were adjudged on various parameters. This was the first time when areas were rewarded for best upkeep practices. Krishnashila area bagged the first prize while Khadia and Kakri secured second and third spot respectively. Central Workshop and NSC were given special prizes in this category as their judgement parameters differed from coal-producing areas.
 
All the areas and units celebrated Republic Day with enthusiasm.
