NCL Installs Spectrometer to Check-up the Health of Machines
Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) under one of the new initiatives, has Installed a Spectrometer in its state of the art Central Workshop (CWS) which tells about the health of the heavy machines used in coal mining operations in just 15 minutes. The instrument analyses a sample of lubricants used in the machine and detects wear metals and contaminant metals. It also detects any change in the key properties of the oil thereby contributing significantly towards preventive maintenance of these machines.
Shri P. K. Sinha, CMD, NCL along with the Functional Directors has congratulated Team CWS for this initiative and expected that this new instrument would be instrumental in upkeep and maintenance of the Heavy Earth Moving Machines (HEMMs) of the company in the upcoming time.
The maintenance of machines plays a very vital role in overall operations of NCL as the company has around 1200 HEMMs which runs round the clock in its mines helping the company produce as much as 15% of India’s total coal production.
Notably, spectrometer also provides complete automated analytical data with colour-coded alarms and diagnostic statement to guide the technician on recommended maintenance actions.
