NCL observes Cleanliness Fortnight

Singrauli: As a part of nationwide Swachh Bharat Mission, Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) observed Swachhta Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) with full devout and dedication from 16th to 31st August 2017. 
 
All coal areas and Units of the company under the leadership of their General Managers and Area heads administered cleanliness oath, ran massive cleanliness drive and undertook thematic events aimed at making cleanliness a mass movement.
 
Office premises, townships, nearby schools and villages were cleaned at massive scale along with a wide spectrum of activities ranged from organisation of health camps, dedication of newly constructed toilets to public, plantation and distribution of saplings at large, constitution of special task force, distribution of cleanliness kits and dustbins aiming mass awareness about cleanliness.
 
The participation of school children remained the special attraction of the fortnight as they performed as the brand ambassadors of these drives in and around the company’s operational areas. These children not only took part in the awareness campaigns like Nukkad Natak (Street Play), Swachhta Rally (Cleanliness Rally) but also participated in the essay, painting, speech and other thematic competitions along with active participation in the cleanliness activities to make the public aware about cleanliness.
 
School children, employees of NCL and other outstanding performers of the fortnight across all areas and units of the company were awarded and felicitated in the closing ceremony of the fortnight held on August 31.
 
The cleanliness fortnight in the company was kicked off on August 15, 2017, after Shri T.K. Nag, Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of the company flagged off Swachhta Daud (Run for Cleanliness) and released hot-air balloons carrying Swachhta Slogans as a mark of beginning of the fortnight during 71st Independence Day celebrations held at the company’s headquarters in Singrauli.
