NCL supplies 100 per cent coal to the power houses as per FSA

New Delhi: NCL is entrusted with the responsibility of producing and despatching 91 million tonnes (mt) of coal in the current fiscal. Out of this, more than 92 per cent i.e. 84 mt has to be supplied to the power houses, which are having linkage (fixed agreement) with NCL and most of them are majorly dependent on the company’s coal supply for power generation. The company has also made Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs) mentioning Annual Contracted Quantity (ACQ) of coal with these power houses so that necessary and incessant supply of coal may be ensured to them. As per the ACQ of the FSA for the current fiscal up to October 6, NCL had to supply approx. 39 mt of coal to the power houses whereas company has supplied approx. 38 mt to them. Thus, the company has supplied almost 100 per cent coal as per FSA to the power houses having linkage with it.

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL) are the key coal consumers of NCL and collectively they are shareholders of more than 75 per cent of the total coal supply made to the power houses by NCL. These two power companies operate some of India’s mega coal-fired power plants.
