NLCIL inaugurated the Mass plantation of Ultra High Density Mango Saplings in Neyveli
Neyveli:
Dr Sarat Kumar Acharya,CMD,NLCIL inaugurated the Mass plantation of Ultra High Density Mango Saplings (UHDP) in the premises of Neyveli Solar Power Project this morning (21.08.2017).
NLCIL is bringing in 65 Mw of Green Energy through solar power projects at Neyveli Block-1. As a measure for transforming the Green Energy Project Greener 3500 saplings of Mango are being planted in an area of 15.45 Acres in the premises of Neyveli Solar Power Project. Each sapling will be planted in a pit with mixture of native soil, natural manure, minimum chemical & neem cake. These plants require less water per day when compared to the conventional planting. In the UHDP more saplings could be planted in an acre. The gestation period is 3 to 4 years to reach the full potential in 5 years with an yield of 12 tons per acre to earn around 80-90 lakh rupees per annum.The UHDP will yield for 25-30 years.The Totapuri and Neelam are varieties recommended for the state.
The CMD in his inaugural address said that initiatives like planting Ultra High Density Mango saplings are to maintain the Ecological balance and improve the Environment of NLCIL industrial corridors. NLCIL has taken up many such good steps for the well being of the people of the state and in turn contributing to the nation’s growth. Plans are on to introduce wind energy as well at Neyveli in different places. Also plantation of UHD saplings should be replicated in other places, he said. Green Energy of 130 Mw is planned to be achieved shortly at Neyveli.The Clarion call of the Father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi for a Clean and Green India and the Call for a Clean India by our Hon’ble Prime Minister is being observed by NLCIL in letter and spirit.
Directors Shri Rakesh Kumar, Shri Subir Das, Shri V.Thangapandian, Shri P. Selvakumar, Shri R.Vikraman and the CVO Shri T.Venkatasubramanian graced the occasion and planted saplings.Shri P.Selvakumar welcomed the gathering and Shri P.A.Senthilkuma,CGM(P&BD) proposed vote of thanks.
