NRDC Opened Incubation Center For Startups
New Delhi: To leverage the emerging start-up eco-system in the country, National Research Development Corporation, opened an Incubation Centre in its premises which was inaugurated by Dr. Girish Sahni, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR on 10th January, 2018. In his inaugural address, Dr. Sahni appreciated efforts of NRDC in establishing Incubation Centre as it fulfils the aspiration of the young entrepreneurs who are passionate to address the social problems through their start-ups. S/Shri Ashwani Gupta and B.N. Sarkar, Scientist `G’, DSIR were also present amongst the Sr. officials of NRDC, incubates during the inauguration.
Dr. H. Purushotham, Chairman & Managing Director of NRDC informed that NRDC received about 100 applications seeking incubation space in the NRDC Incubation Centre. Considering the modality of the idea, the maturity of the idea, market potential, relevance to the social need, NRDC shortlisted 32 start-ups for incubating in the NRDC Incubation Centre. About 52% of the start-ups are in the manufacturing sector and 48% start-ups selected are being incubated are in the service sector. These start-ups are incubated in physical as well as virtual mode. Apart from the physical plug and play incubation space in South Delhi, the start-ups are provided with technical know-how, IPR services, prototype development and testing support, market research, business plan preparation, mentoring, handholding and connecting to Start-up India Mission, and investors.
