NRDC Transferred and Commercialized two Technologies Developed by NIOT

New Delhi: Technology and innovation are playing key role in development of any country. National Research Development Corporation, an Enterprise of Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi (NRDC) has taken lead role in development, promotion and commercialisation of technologies emanating from national R&D organizations, institutes and universities under the government to assist the Start-Up India, Stand-up India and Make in India Missions in a broad way. With this objective, NRDC has transferred indigenous and innovative technologies developed by National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Chennai, Govt. of India to four industries on 26th July 2019 at Prithvi Bhawan, Ministry of Earth Science, Govt of India, New Delhi.
 
NRDC inks four Technology Transfer Licensing Agreements on a single day for commercializing NIOT developed technologies: 
 
1. 'Wave Powered Navigational Buoy' to M/s. Sangir Plastics Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat, M/s. Hi-Tech Elastomers Pvt. Ltd., Gujarat, M/s. Nireekshan Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., Chennai respectively.
2. 'E. faecalis Multiplex PCR Detection Kit' to M/s. SAAI Electro Biogenic India Pvt. Ltd., Chennai. 
 
The License agreements were signed by Shri D.C. Joshi, Chief, NRDC, New Delhi, Dr. M.A. Atmanand, Director NIOT, Chennai,  B.K. Sahu, Manager, NRDC (IPFC & TISC), Dr. Tata Sudhakar, Head, Ocean Electronics Group, NIOT, Chennai; and Shri Sushil Mandhana, Managing Director, M/s.  Sangir Plastics Pvt. Ltd., Shri K.P. Vijayakumar, Director, M/s. Nireekshan Engineering Services Pvt. Ltd., Shri Rupen V. Soni, Executive Director, M/s. Hi-Tech Elastomers Pvt Ltd., and Shri Karthik Srinivasan Varma, CEO & Managing Director, M/s. SAAI Electro Biogenic India Pvt Ltd respectively.
 
The License agreement was exchanged in the august presence of Dr. M. Rajeevan, Secretary, Ministry of Earth Science, Govt. of India, Dr. Vipin Chandra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt of India, Dr. M.P. Wakdikar Scientist 'G', Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt of India and other senior officials of Ministry Earth Science, NIOT, NRDC and representative from various industries.
 
Speaking on the occasion Dr H Purushotham, CMD, NRDC said 'NRDC is working very closely with NIOT and so far licensed more than 13 technologies developed by NIOT and there are many more in the pipeline'.
