NTPC CMD Expresses Happiness over NCL Coal Supply to its Thermal Power Plants

Singrauli: Shri Gurdeep Singh, CMD of NTPC Limited has expressed his happiness over the coal supply being made to its pithead thermal power plants by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) and has urged NCL to extend its support to the up-county power stations of NTPC including Mauda Thermal Power Station (TPS) in Maharashtra under Flexi Utilization of Domestic Coal scheme. Shri Singh was on a visit to Nigahi Coal mine of NCL, along with Shri P. K. Sinha, CMD, NCL, and Seniors Executives of both organizations, Saturday on 12th January 2019, that feeds NTPC Vindhyachal Super Thermal Power Station (STPS), India’s largest thermal power station.
 
Presently, NCL has Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) with three of the NTPC pit-head thermal power stations namely Vindhyachal STPS, Singrauli STPS and Rihand STPS and these power stations are having sufficient stock of coal. India’s largest power station Vindhyachal STPS that is fully fed by NCL coal is having 26 days coal stock against the normative requirement of 15 days. This power station is fed by NCL’s Nigahi and Dudhichua coal mines. Similarly, Singrauli STPS is having 29 days of coal stock against the normative requirement of 15 days. Rihand STPS is having 30 days of coal stock against the normative requirement of 15 days.
 
The company is also supplying 2.5 Lakh tonnes of coal per month to NTPC Mauda STPS Flexi Utilization of Domestic Coal scheme.
 
NCL, the flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited, supplies more than 50 per cent of its produced coal to NTPC power plants. The company has been entrusted with the responsibility to produce 100 million tonnes (mt) of coal in this fiscal. The off-take target of the company is 100.5 mt for the current fiscal. The company has produced 77.89 mt of coal so far up 11 per cent from the last year and the company’s coal off-take is 79.02 mt till date that is 7 per cent higher than the off-take in the same period of the last fiscal.
 
NCL contributes 15 per cent of the national coal production and 10 per cent power generation of the nation is met by NCL’s coal.
