NTPC organised a two day Environment Meet -2016
New delhi .NTPC organised a two day “Environment Meet -2016” with an aim to update and sensitise its power stations towards stringent environmental compliances. The meet was attended by more than 70 professionals responsible for environment protection and pollution control at all the operating stations of NTPC as well as its JVs and subsidiaries spread across the country .
In his inaugural address Shri K.K. Sharma, Director Operations NTPC emphasized on the importance of Environment protection and resource conservation specific to emission control within specified limits and water conservation in power generation. He further emphasized to develop the culture of voluntarism and proactive endeavours apart from meeting statutory obligations.
Dr Alind Rastogi Executive Director (Env Mgt & Ash Mgt)and Chief Forest Officer informed about the progress made by NTPC towards online 24x7 real time monitoring, compliances of the emission levels, water conservation by way of drain bifurcation and ZLD. He reaffirmed the NTPC’s commitment towards the environmental protection and new benchmarks for pollution control.
Shri R.K.Srivastava, Executive Director (NETRA & DBF) and Shri S.K. Roy, Executive Director (OS) also addressed the participants and insisted on achieving the new levels of pollution control in reporting the environmental compliances. All the participants presented the status of compliance and future plans to comply with the environmental norms stipulated by MoEF&CC, CPCB and the respective state regulators.
During the meet, the experts from CC-Engg., Central Pollution Control Board, Environmental Appraisal Committee, MOEF&CC, TERI and CIMFR also enlightened the participants.
