ONGC donates bus to special children
Chennai: ONGC, Cauvery Basin, Chennai has donated a bus to a special school for mentally challenged children, run by Centre for Development and Communication Trust (CENDECT) in Kamatchipuram, Theni District.
According to a press release, ONGC executive director (Cauvery Basin-Chennai) R K Khanna handed over the bus to CENDECT members at a function held at Kamatchipuram recently.
The financial assistance for 31 seater bus costing Rs 14,36,000 has been extended through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme of ONGC.
The special school is presently catering to education and rehabilitation of 25 mentally challenged poor children from surrounding villages. Availability of exclusive bus transport shall immensely help the existing students and also facilitate other needy children avail the facility of special school. ONGC is keenly into such CSR initiatives throughout the country, and in particular, in and around its areas of operation, the release said.
