POWERGRID to light up 662 Villages in Odisha
BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha Government has decided to provide electricity to 76 villages through stand-alone solar projects while 198 villages will be electrified through micro-grid.
Rural electrification works have been entrusted to public sector undertakings like Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL), Orissa Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
OREDA has targeted to complete electrification of 275 villages by November, 2016. Similarly, PGCIL will electrify 662 villages while NTPC will provide electricity to 667 villages. OPTCL will electrify 341 villages.
