REC Gives Rs 6890 Crore Assistance to Tamil Nadu
NEW DELHI . Loan agreements were signed between REC Limited and TANGEDCO, TANTRANSCO for financial assistance of Rs. 6,890 crore in Chennai for implementation of 1X 800 MW super critical thermal power plant at North Chennai, renovation and modernisation of TANGEDCO’ s existing thermal power plants and establishment of new 765 KV, 400 KV substations in and around Chennai.
While the Directors and senior officials of TANGEDCO and TANTRANSCO stated that the huge loan assistance from REC will ensure timely implementation of these projects, the Director (Technical), REC said that REC will financially support them in the coming years not only in Transmission and Distribution projects but also in the upcoming Udangudi super critical thermal power project as also in other renewable energy, energy conservation, smart grid and automation power projects in the state of Tamil Nadu.
