REIL inks MoU fir Carbon Free Island in ANDAMAN and N

 
NEW DELHI. Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL), Jaipurhas entered into an MOU with MNRE, Government of India and Andaman & Nicobar Administration in the presence of Shri Upendra Tripathy, Secretary, MNRE to partner in Govt of India vision of making all Andaman & Nicobar Island Diesel free in respect of power generation under Green Energy initiatives. 
 
The MOU was signed by Shri Tarun Kapoor, Joint Secretary, MNRE, Shri A.K. Jain, Managing Director, REIL and Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, Commissioner (Power), Andaman & Nicobar Administration. 
 
REIL shall install Grid Tied Solar Photo Voltaic Power Plants with storage to the tune of 5 MW capacity in three Islands of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The systems will have world class available technology and will be having advanced storage, to be used first time in India. These Solar Power Plants will generate 60 Lac units in a year which will help in annual reduction of 7000 tons of Carbon dioxide. 
 
These plants shall usher in a replacement to the Diesel based Generating Sets, resulting in elimination of polluting smoke and create a carbon free environment. This initiation will reduce pollution and assist in preserving the ecological environment of these Islands. 
 
Shri A.K. Jain, Managing Director informed that this is another major initiative of REIL which will provide not only Green Energy but also contribute in preservation of eco-system and environment at Islands.
