Robust coal production by NCL pitches for the excess supply

Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) has once again proved its mettle by supplying more than Annual Contracted Quantity (ACQ) of coal to the power houses of its key consumers the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and the Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL). 
 
NTPC’s three power plants namely Singrauli Vindhyachal and Rihand Super Thermal Power Project (RSTP) and UPRVUNL’s three power plants namely Anpara Obra Thermal Power Station (OTPS) and Parichha are NCL’s key coal consumers and majorly dependent on the company’s coal supply for power generation. 
 
As per the Fuel Supply Agreement (FSA) made between NCL and these six power houses for FY 17-18, NCL had to supply the total quantity of 24.82 million tonnes of coal upto August 28, 2017, whereas NCL has supplied 25.21 million tonnes of coal, which is 2 per cent more than ACQ which had to be supplied by this date as per FSA. Thus, NCL has collectively supplied 102 per cent of the FSA commitment. 
 
The company has produced 34.88 million tonnes of coal up to August 28, 2017, thereby registering an increase of 13.30 per cent as compared to the same period of the last fiscal. 
 
NCL has also witnessed an exponential growth in coal off-take to power companies. Against the coal despatch of 31.99 million tonne up to August 28, 2016, the company has despatched 35.93 million tonne of coal up to August 28, 2017 thereby registering an increase of 12.30 per cent in comparison to the same period of last financial year. 
 
NCL had produced and despatched 84.10 million tonne and 83.46 million tonne of coal respectively during the last FY gainst the target of 82 million tonne of coal production and despatch each.,which are the all-time high figures in history of NCL.
