Shri Anant Geete Minister Govt of India Visits HEC

Ranchi: Shri Anant Geete, Minister, Govt. of India, Department of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises visited HEC Ltd. He flagged off Main Gear wheel manufactured in HMBP which is a very important component of 24 / 96 Dragline, used for Hoist & Drag Unit of the Dragline. Main Gear Wheel is a very critical item made of special alloy steel having the hardness as high as BHN: 190 – 320. It involves very intricate and high precision machining. Its raw material is manufactured by FFP and supplied to HMBP in the form of Casting and Forging (in two halves). In HMBP, manufacturing operations such as Rough Turning, Fabrication, Horizontal Boring, Assembly of the two halves, Finish Turning, Drilling & Teeth Cutting (Rough & Finish) are carried out. Hon’ble Minister has also seen various innovative processes and tooling developed to reduce the manufacturing time in teeth cutting operations at HMBP. 
 
CMD HEC also apprised him that HEC has supplied one special forging for Reactor Pressure Vessel to BHEL, Trichy against the order of Indian Navy. It is one of the most critical and stringent Heavy Forging after meeting all technical requirements and was certified by BARC Mumbai. He explained to the Hon’ble Minister that HEC has been doing such kind of jobs which no one in India could do so far and that HEC is also manufacturing components under the ‘Make in India’ concept of the Prime Minister CMD informed Hon’ble Minister that the engineers and designers in HEC are quite innovative and recently have developed Hydraulic Excavator which is one of the states of art machine for use in the Mining sector. Hon’ble Minister was also apprised about the various technical tie-ups HEC has entered into for acquiring updated technologies from different foreign companies like Cascade Technology of Russia in Railway Track Machine and with CNIITMASH and OKBM of Russia for Nuclear Power Plant areas.

On this occasion, Hon’ble Minister unveiled the Coffee Table Book of HEC. He expressed his pleasure in visiting HEC for the second time in his tenure as Minister for Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises. While addressing the employees Hon’ble Minister stated that there have been many challenges for the Public Sector Undertakings but, in spite of those challenges companies

like HEC has been doing jobs of national importance. He was very happy to know that HEC with more than sixty years old machinery has been able to do such kind of jobs of great importance as mentioned by CMD, HEC. This is indeed the commitment, devotion sincerity of the employees of the Company which should be applauded.
