Stir hits coal supply to Nalco plant
ANGUL: COAL supply to captive power plant of Nalco came to a grinding halt on Friday due to strike at its feeding coalmine at Bharatpur in Talcher.
The Driver and Helper Association at Talcher coalfield shut the mine over their longstanding demand of employment in a new private coal transport company engaged in the mine. The association has been demanding that the new transport company employ locals for all its posts.
Rejecting the demand, the company had stated that it will employ eligible candidates. On the other hand, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) authorities maintained that they have no role in deciding who will be employed in the company that has been awarded contract to transport coal in Bhartapur mine.
