AAI eyes 50cr interest on Spice Jet dues
New Delhi: Airports Authority of India (AAI) has sought Rs 50 crore from SpiceJet as interest on dues that the low cost carrier (LCC) had run up early last year under its previous owners. In early 2015, just before the airline was acquired by its co-founder Ajay Singh, the LCC's dues to AAI had reached almost Rs 200 crore.
The airline did not comment on the AAI interest issue. However, it is learnt that the management is trying to get a reprieve from the PSU on this front.
"We have all seen what happened when Kingfisher collapsed and the impact it had on everyone. SpiceJet is back from the brink and is now looking at a sustainable future, thanks to all stakeholders' support and the same is still needed," a senior executive said recently
