India Railway Signs MoU with Raitel to Upgrade Signalling System

New Delhi: The Indian Railways signed a MoU with RailTel Enterprises Ltd (REL), for modernization of signalling system on 4 sections.
 
The MoU was signed by executive director of Signal Development (Railway Board), Shri Pradeep M Sikdar, Member (Signal & Telecom) of Railway Board, Kashinath, and CMD of Railtel, Shri Puneet Chawla on June 17.
 
The project includes setting up automatic train protection system with Long Term Evolution (LTE)-based Mobile Train Radio Communication System (MTRC) along with a provision of Electronic Interlocking (indoor), wherever required, the RailTel said in a statement.
 
According to Railway Ministry, the project of modern train control system will be implemented on the 165 route km on the Renigunta-Yerraguntla section of the South Central Railway, 145 route km on the Vizianagaram-Palasa section of the East Coast Railway, 155 route km on the Jhansi-Bina section of the North Central Railway and 175 km route on the Nagpur-Badnera Section of the Central Railway. 
 
The train control system modernisation project will be implemented on some of the busiest routes on Indian Railway with heavy traffic, it stated.
