IOC to provide help for cleft surgeries

The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), stepped in to supplement the cost of 200 cleft surgeries at Guwahati Comprehensive Cleft Care Centre of Mission Smile.
The state government and National Health Mission, Assam, bear part of the cost of 15,000 surgeries performed at the Guwahati centre of Mission Smile. The rest of the money is raised by Mission Smile through donors.
The IOC will bear the cost for a period of two months by providing Rs 30.5 lakh from its CSR fund. The cost of surgery is around Rs 35,000. Besides providing funds, the IOC will also take up activities to create awareness about cleft deformity and the avenues available for treating such patients.
