MCL hands over Rs 5 crore Relief cheque for Uttarakhand.
SAMBALPUR. Sri Kulamani Biswal, Director (Finance), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited handed over a cheque of Rs 5.00 Crores to the Resident Commisssioner, Uttarakhand at his office at New Delhi on 05.09.2013 towards relief and rehabilitation in the flood affected areas of Uttarakhand. The above sum consisted of contribution of one day salary of all the employees and the balance was contributed by the company.
MCL and its employees have always responded in times of calamities and in the past have contributed Rs 5 crores , Rs 1 crore & Rs 61.94 lacs for the ORISSA FLOODS of 2011 , 2008 & 2003, Rs 49.63 lacs for the ORISSA CYCLONE 1999, Rs 69.74 lacs for TSUNAMI – 2005 , Rs 63.82 lacs for the GUJRAT EARTHQUAKE 2001 besides providing relief and food materials during calamities of lesser magnitude.
