NALCO CMD Lauds Sunita Lakra for Leading Indian Women Hockey Team
Bhubaneswar: On her return from 5th Asian Champions Trophy, Ms. Sunita Lakra, the Captain of Indian Women’s Hockey Team, along with her team-mate Ms. Deep Grace Ekka, met NALCO CMD Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand and briefed him about their achievements in the tournament. Dr. Chand appreciated Ms. Sunita Lakra, for leading the team to achieve the Runners Up title in the tournament. The team, led by defender Sunita Lakra performed well in the tournament, beating Japan (4-1), China (3-1) and Malaysia (3-2). In the finals, they lost the match to Korea (0-1).
Dr. Tapan Kumar Chand, CMD, NALCO, said, 'We are very proud of Sunita Lakra for helping brand Odisha shine in the sporting arena.' It may be noted that Ms. Lakra is an employee of the Navratna Company NALCO.
'Sportspersons like Sradhanjali Samantaray, Debasis Mohanty, Shiv Sundar Das, Anuradha Biswal, who are part of NALCO family, have brought laurels to the State and the company as well. With a view to promoting sports and encourage the sportspersons of Odisha, Navratna NALCO is planning to induct more sportspersons in future,' said Dr. Chand.
