Nalco to upgrade Gandhi Smruthi Pitha at Puri
Bhubaneswar . The Gandhi Smruthi Pitha by the sea beach at Puri in Odisha will soon turn into a state-of-the-art park, public-sector major Nalco announced today.
The aluminium major had set up the Gandhi Smruti Pitha in 2002 at an investment of Rs 50 lakh. The place was later handed over to the Puri-Konark Development Authority (PKDA) for maintenance.
In ameeting attended by local MP Maheswar Mohanty and Puri district collector Arvind Agarwal, Nalco CMD T K Chand agreed to upgrade the existing park with landscaping, plantati on,musical fountains and lighting.
"A consultant shall be appointed in a month` stime in this regard and the work shall be finished in one year, "Chand said in a statement. A committee has been set up for the execution of the project, which will be represented by SHri S C Padhy, director (HR) and Shri Amiya Patnaik, GM (H&A)from NALCO, the statement added.
