NCL celebrates Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm

Singrauli: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) celebrated Independence Day with supreme verve. Central celebrations in company Headquarter at Worker’s Club Ground began with Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NCL Shri Tapas Kumar Nag hoisting the national flag. On this occasion, Ms.Shantilata Sahu, Director (Personnel), Shri Gunadhar Pandey, Director (Technical/Operations), Shri.J.L.Singh, Director (Technical/Project & Planning), NCL JCC Member, Shri Hiramani Yadav and Shri Ashok Dubey, CMOAI President, Shri Tarkeshwar Prasad, CMOAI Secretary Shri Sarvesh Singh, President Kriti Mahila Mandal, Smt Nina Nag, Vice-President, Smt.Rita Singh were present as guest of honour.
 
After hoisting the flag, Chief Guest, Shri T.K.Nag, CMD, NCL inspected guard of honour and released hot-air balloons. Flying high in free air, the balloons spread Independence Day greetings from NCL far and wide. Later, Shri Nag inspected guard of honour which culminated with march past and salute under the tricolour.
 
Addressing the gathering, Shri.Nag, congratulated everyone for celebrations of 71st Independence Day which marked 70 years of Independence. Remembering the sacrifice of martyrs, Shri Nag said this national festival should be celebrated as day of pledge. He averred on pledging for upliftment of underprivileged section of our society through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Individual Social Responsibility (ISR). He further said that in addition to fulfilling our social commitments, NCL also contributes towards development of nation and is pivotal in fulfilling the energy requirement of the nation. He further added that up to July, 2017, NCL has registered a growth of more than 5% in coal production and off-take as compared to same period in previous year. He also informed about various new initiatives of the company proposed and being implemented in current financial year which included expansion in coal handling capacity of Nigahi CHP, upgradation and construction of new residential quarters in NCL areas/units and construction of ‘Kalyan Mandap’ in Jayant. His address also highlighted issues like environmental conservation, compliance of safety standards and cleanliness. Going ahead on achieving the dream of Clean India, NCL has organised a Cleanliness Fortnight from 16th August to 31st August. 2017. Closing the address, Shri Nag thanked all fellow miners for their contribution in growth of the company and made a special request to contribute in making India a clean Nation thereby fulfilling the dream of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
 
Prior to this, Director (Personnel), Ms.Shantilata Sahu unfurled national flag in Headquarter premises where she stressed on role of NCL in fulfilling energy needs of the nation.
 
The Independence Day celebrations in NCL Headquarter started in morning at 6:30 am with General Manager (Personnel), Shri T.B.Raju flagging off the ‘Sadhbhavana Daud’.
 
In the programme organised at Worker’s Club Ground, school children showcased spirit of nationalism through various cultural renditions after which the children were rewarded and prizes were also distributed to merit holders from various schools.
 
Various custumal and cultural programmes were also organised in the areas/units of NCL where employees, their families and representatives of trade unions came together to celebrate 71st Independence Day with enthusiasm
