NCL organized Cardiac Awareness Programme

Singrauli: Dr. Rajiv Rathi, the well-known cardiologist of the country has said that patients themselves are the biggest doctors in the treatment of heart attacks as the initial symptoms of heart attack are best known to a patient than anybody else.

 

Dr. Rathi was addressing the cardiac awareness programme organized by Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) at its corporate HQ on Friday for its employees and their families. NCL Director (Technical/Project and Planning) Shri P.M. Prasad graced the programme as the Chief Guest and Director (Finance) Shri Nag Nath Thakur, as guest of honour.

 

The Cardiovascular disease has emerged as one of the biggest cause of deaths in India due to lack of physical activities, excessive intake of fats and sugar in the modern lifestyle. Most of the patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases are between the age of 35 to 54 years, which is considered to be the most productive time in human life, said Dr. Rathi.

 

He told that least intake of harmful fats, excessive consumption of nutritious fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, avoiding smoking, pollution and living disciplined life could minimize the possibility of heart diseases. But even after following all these things, there is no guarantee that healthy people will not have heart-related diseases.

 

Answering a few queries, Dr. Rathi told that cardiac arrest is one of the most dangerous heart diseases, which can also be deadly. To avoid a cardiac arrest, it is most important for the patient to get timely treatment, for which the symptoms such as chest discomfort, jaw pain, toothache, headache, breathing problem, nausea and vomiting, abnormal fatigue with sweating, irregular heartbeat should be taken care of and If there is any doubt about any such symptoms immediately contact the nearest caretaker without hesitation.

 

NCL Director (Technical / Project and Planning) Shri P.M. Prasad thanked Dr. Rathi on the behalf of the NCL family for sharing his valuable knowledge on cardiovascular diseases.

 

Dr. Uma Shankar, Chief Medical Services (CMS) of NCL welcomed all the guests, while Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, CMS of the Nehru Shatabdi Chikitshalaya (NSC) presented vote of thanks. A large number of NCL employees, union representatives, and their families participated in the program.

 

A special OPD was also organized on Friday evening and Saturday morning, in which Dr. Rathi examined 114 patients of cardiac disorders.
