NCL PROMOTES U 17 FIFA FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

Singrauli: To promote Under-17 FIFA Football World Cup 2017 scheduled in October 2017, NCL is organising Football Tournament from 15th September to 24th September under Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) ambit of the company. As a part of inaugural ceremony, Chief Guest, Shri.S.K.Jha, General Manager (CSR), NCL flagged off the tournament in Karela Government School on Friday, 15th September, 2017. Shri.T.B.Raju, General Manager(Personnel) and Shri.Bikul Borthakur, General Manager(Civil/CSR) graced the occasion as guests of honour.
In his inaugural address, Shri.Jha said that NCL not only provides platform to sports persons to showcase their talent but also provides launching pad to budding and aspiring young sports persons. He expressed his hopes that players with their brilliant performance will earn fame for their village and region.
 
The 10-day tournament, lasting up to September 24th, 2017, will be played under rural and urban genre. Opening match of the tournament was played under ‘Rural’ genre between Karela and Barmani village in which the host team, Village Karela won by 2-0. In this sequence, second match of the tournament was played between Pipra and Birkunia village in which the team of Village Pipra registered a whopping victory by 4-1. 
 
Matches of ‘Rural’ and ‘Urban’ genre will be played in village Karela and Singrauli Stadium respectively. Final match of this knock-out tournament will be played between a Rural and an Urban Team on September 24th, 2017.
 
A total of 25 teams are participating in the tournament in which Singrauli Club, Koylanchal Club Nigahi, Boy’s Club Singrauli, Anpara sporting Club, Amlohri Football Club, Barcelona Club Waidhan, Jayant Football Club, CWS, Government Higher Secondary School Panjreh, Madholi-A and Madholi-B are representing ‘Urban’ genre whereas teams of villages of Birkunia, Karela, Kasar, Pipra, Churki, Sarai Raja, Barmani, Noudiya, Gorbi, HS Poudi Bargawa, Adarsh Club Khutaar, Khirwa-A and Khirwa-B are playing under ‘Rural’ genre.
 
To encourage rural participation further, registrations are still open for teams playing under ‘Rural’ genre. Teams applying under ‘Rural’ genre are required to route their registration through Village Sarpanch. Coal India Limited (CIL), the holding company of NCL has signed up as national supporter of Under-17 FIFA Football World Cup and is one of the national sponsors of the game. To promote and strengthen football ecosystem in its operational areas, CIL has delegated the organisation of various tournaments to its subsidiaries. In this sequence, NCL that has long affiliation with sports promotion is organising the Football Tournament across rural and urban region to promote FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, the first FIFA event to be
hosted in the subcontinent.
