NEYVELI BOOK FAIR 2017

NEYVELI:  The imminent of books tableau the 20th Neyveli Book Fair, organized by NLC India Ltd., will commence at the Book Fair Grounds Neyveli on 30th June 2017.
 
NLC India Limited’s objective of contributing to the nation by creating wealth for the wellbeing by contributing to the society through various welfare schemes and projects and it has been continuously striving to bring in efforts and initiatives which bring about a tangible change in the lives of the community. Education is a key focus area for its CSR activities and spreading knowledge to people by acting as a bridge to connect Literary world is    one of the avenues to light up minds.
 
In line with the objective NLC India Limited began the Annual Book Fair at Neyveli in 1998. The event has met with success over the years and today, stands proud as South India’s second largest book fair.  Across 10 days, the book fair brings over 160 publishers and over 10,000 titles under the same roof to make the book Fair more interactive. 
 
NLCIL has been organizing book fair for the past 19 years for the benefit of the public in and around Neyveli. This year it is being organized from 30th June to 9th July 2017. Ms. KiranBedi,  Hon’ble  Lt. Governor of  Pondicherry, will inaugurate the 20th Neyveli Book Fair in the presence of   Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD, NLCIL. 
 
Very Important Persons from State and Central Governments will be participating as Chief Guests on different days during the Fair.  Shri T.P Rajesh, IAS, District Collector, Cuddalore, Shri A. Kaliyamurthy ,IPS, Superintendent of Police (Retd.), Shri P. Samuthirakani, Cine Director, Shri K Vijaya Kumar,IPS ,Director General of Police (Retd.) and   Shri K. Vaidyanathan, Editor, Dinamani are the eminent personalities being invited for the Neyveli Book Fair 2017. 
 
As there is ever-growing demand from the surrounding Districts, it is proposed to keep open the book stalls from 11:00 AM to 09.00 PM, on Week Days and 10.00 AM to 09.00 PM, on Saturdays& Sundays.
 
During the days of book fair, eminent writers, publishers will be honoured and  new books will be released. Over the course of 10 days, The Book Fair put on show digital and paper books, magazines, CDs, and more, targeting School children & Book lovers.
 
As a CSR initiative, NLC has made special arrangements for schools especially government schools and under privileged children to visit the Fair by issuing free entry passes to more than 15,000 school students hailing from Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore Districts and the Union Territory of Puducherry. 
 
About 160 Stalls containing books of around 139 publishers are housed in the book fair. Leading Publishers and eminent publications are to participate in the Fair.
 
Throughout the 10 days various cultural programmes Like, Colors of India by Abinaya Natyalaya by Smt. Anna Varghese, Kasethan Kadavulada Drama by Shri Y.Gee, Mahendran, Magic show by Sri Pradeep Hudino, Fusion Music , Super Singer “Faridha” with  K.R in Ragapriya- a concert by Chennai Music College Students have also been organized to enthrall participants.  Also amusement for children and cafeteria are additional attraction during the book fair.
 
Spot competitions for the kids are one of the attractions of this book fair wherein a number of children participate actively. Dinamani, the leading Tamil daily along with the Book Fair Organizing Committee jointly organizes Short Story Competition for Tamil writers, Essay Competition for school and college students and Short Film Competition for the Visual Communication students and public.
 
Dr. S.K. Acharya, CMD, NLCIL, Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance),Shri Subir Das, Director (Mines), Shri V. Thangapandian, Director(Power), Shri P. Selvakumar (Planning and Projects),  Shri R.Vikraman, Director /HR,  Shri T.Venkatasubramanian ,CVO and  other senior officials will participate in the function. The Book Fair concludes on 9th July 2017.
