NLCIL Mines has proved that Mining does not pollute the environment

New Delhi: Shri B.P.Singh, Director, Mines Safety, Chennai Region participated as the Guest of Honour in the Final Day Function of the Zonal Level  Mines Safety Week-2017(07.08.2017-12.08.2017) yesterday (20.08.2017) held at Lignite Hall by NLCIL & Tamilnadu Mines Safety Association,Trichy(TNMSA)( Under the Aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety).In his address Shri Singh said,” the belief of public about mining polluting  the environment has been proved wrong by the  Mines of NLCIL.

Dr.Sarat Kumar Acharya, CMD,NLCIL was the Chief Guest of the function.CMD in his address highlighted the initiatives of the company in planting trees/fruit bearing saplings in large numbers in the Mines and desilting of lakes and ponds to revive water bodies  to improve the environment. Adapting to safety norms at work place is the primary responsibility of every employee. Safety at home and on road are equally important, Head gear is a must while riding a motorcycle and utmost care has to be taken while using cooking range with Liquefied Petroleum Gas in the kitchen.
Shri Subir Das,Director(Mines), in his felicitation said that in operating  the Bucket Wheel Excavator, the safety manual by Prof. Dr.Bhattacharya of the Indian School of Mines,Dhanbad is being followed.We could achieve our Goal of Zero Harm if we follow scruples sly follow the safety manual.He had a word of appreciation for the engineers of NLCIL for reviving, repairing and redeploying of the earth moving equipment through meticulous planning.
The first prize for the overall safety was won by Mine-I and Mine-II bagged the Runner-Up.Shri Syed Abdul Fateh Khalid,ED(Mines) welcomed the gathering. Shri V.Renganathan,ED(SME),NLCIL, Shri U.Subramaniam,Jt President, Chettinad Cement Corp. (P) Ltd and Chairman TNMSA,   Shri G.Raghunathsingh,VP,Chettinad Cement Corp. (P) Ltd. and  Secretary,TNMSA felicitated the occasion.Shri K.Mohan Reddy, CGM/ISO(Mines),NLCIL and the Zonal Secretary, TNMSA proposed the vote of thanks.
