NLCIL Organizes meeting on GST

Neyveli: The Government of India announced implementation of the Goods & Service Tax (GST) from 1st July, 2017 and has directed all the ministries to propagate its significance and applications among all the stakeholders related to the PSUs concerned. The GOI is also ensuring the smooth transition to GST.
 
A meeting of Functional Directors of NLCIL with senior officials was held at Corporate Office, Neyveli, on 12.07.2017 to review the actions for smooth migration of GST in NLCIL. Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director (Finance) of NLCIL has chaired the meeting and reviewed the status of GST implementation in the Company. He explained in detail various steps taken by the company for the roll out of GST with effect from 1.7.2017.
 
He stated that NLCIL has already started conducting various workshops on GST to vendors, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure enriched knowledge of this new tax legislation theoretically and practically. Functional Directors,Shri SubirDas, Shri V.Thangapandian and Shri R.Vikraman were participated in the meeting.
 
In this review meeting, an action plan was drawn, which includes conducting of various regular review meetings for implementation of GST at Unit level, Hosting of Frequently Asked Questions on GST in Hindi, English and Tamil in Internet and Intranet sites of NLCIL for the benefit of stake holders and organizing Road Shows in Neyveli and other areas to highlight the advantages of implementation of GST Act etc.
 
Earlier, on 01st & 04th of July, 2017 training sessions on GST for Vendors & Contractors of NLCIL were organized at L&DC, Neyveli
 
During these trainings sessions  topics like, Overview of GST and its salient features like Registration requirement, Composition scheme for the Traders and Manufacturers, Input tax credit mechanism, Reverse tax mechanism, Returns filing, compliance rating, Anti-profiteering etc. were extensively deliberated and discussed.
These workshops provided deep insights for various strategies to be adopted for smooth implementation of GST in NLCIL.
