NRL Organizes SAKSHAM Cycle Day 2020
New Delhi: Hundreds of cyclists took part in the SAKSHAM Cycle Day organized by Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) on 19th January, 2020 in Silchar as part of SAKSHAM Cycle Day being observed in 200 cities simultaneously across the country. Promoted under the slogan 'Ao Cycle Chalaye' to create awareness on health, environment and fuel conservation, the Cycle Day constituted of a 5 km. ‘Green Ride’ starting from the Police Parade Ground, Silchar through Cachar College, Madhuramukh, Rongpur Ground to finally culminate at the starting point.
The Cycle rally was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Cachar Smt. Barnali Sharma, who was the Chief Guest for the event in presence of SP, Cachar Shri Manabendra Dev Ray, BJP District General Secy. Shri Kanad Purkayasta, Silchar Town Mandal President Shri Dwaipayan Chakravarty, District Sports Association President Shri Babul Hore, Sr. CGM (Mktg. & BD)- NRL Mr. B. Ekka, DGM(Corporate Communications)- NRL Ms. Madhuchanda Adhikari and a host of other dignitaries. Earlier, DC, Cachar Smt. Barnali Sharma spoke on the importance of conservation of petroleum fuels while stressing on the benefits of cycling on health as well as the environment. She urged the youth to take forward the novel initiative under SAKSHAM on a sustainable basis for realizing its greater benefits. In his welcome speech Sr.CGM (Mktg. & BD),NRL Mr. B. Ekka briefed about SAKSHAM 2020 campaign and initiatives taken by NRL.
The Cycle Day is part of SAKSHAM (Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav) 2020, a month long campaign observed across the country from 16th January 2020 to 15th February 2020 and promoted under the tagline ‘ Indhan Adhik Na Khapayen, Aao Paryavaran Bhachayen’. Spearheaded by Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) with the help of Public Sector Oil & Gas companies under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoP&NG), Govt. of India, the objective of this campaign is to sensitize the masses about the conservation and efficient use of petroleum products for better health and environment. Also, as part of this month long campaign, NRL will organize a Walkathon in Silchar on 2nd February, 2020 to create awareness on the benefits of conservation of petroleum products.
