NSIC rolls out SC or ST hub

NEW DELHI. In its bid to provide professional support to budding SC/ST entrepreneurs, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd. (NSIC) has rolled out National Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) Hub, said minister of state for MSME Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. 
 
The SC/ST Hub is designed to provide professional support to the reserved category entrepreneurs to fulfill the obligations under the public procurement policy for micro and small enterprises, adopt applicable business practices and leverage the Stand Up India initiative envisaged by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The total estimated budget for the SC/ST Hub scheme for the period 2016-20 is Rs 490 crore. 
 
The functions of the hub include collection, collation and dissemination of information regarding SC/ST enterprises and entrepreneurs, capacity building among existing and prospective reserved category entrepreneurs through skill training and entrepreneurs development programmes (EDPs), vendor development programmes, promoting participation of such entrepreneurs in exhibitions trade fairs and facilitating SC/ST entrepreneurs’ participating in public procurement and monitoring the progress.
