NTPC fails to make Karsada waste mgmt plant operational
Varanasi: The solid waste management plant at Karsada, whose deadline has been revised thrice, failed to become operational even on Friday because of National Thermal Power Corporation's (NTPC) inability to run the plant.
Despite the deadlines, the plant continues to remain stalled adding to sanitation woes of the city. Municipal commissioner Shrihari Pratap Shahi said, "NTPC had issued a request for proposal, as a part of which tendering was done earlier on July 8.
They invited firms and operators having expertise to run the plant. But not many turned up and it was rescheduled for Friday. The plant was supposed to start on Friday but could not be in need of an appropriate firm." He further added that the plant might start at around July 20.
