ONGC Restores Fuels supply in Fani hit Puri Temples
New Delhi: Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) gave away a financial support of Rs 5 crores to Archeological Survey of India (ASI) for restoration of Konark and Jagannath temples in Puri, Odisha. Then temples were damaged in the recent Cyclone Fani.
Energy Maharatna ONGC provided this financial support on 21 May 2019 to Archeological Survey of India (ASI) under the former's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy for conservation, repair and maintenance of cyclone Fani affected Konark and Jagannath temples in Puri.
Shri Kiran DM, CEO, ONGC foundation presented the letter of grant to Shri Rakesh Singh Lal, Additional Director General (Archeological Survey of India) and Shri T. J. Alone, Director (Monument).
On 3 May 2019, an extremely severe Cyclonic Storm Fani hit the coastal districts of Odisha.Fani was the strongest tropical cyclone to strike the Indian state of Odisha since Phailin in 2013. As a result of the cyclone ancient monuments of major cities like Bhubneshwar, Puri were badly affected.
This financial aid is yet another gesture by National Oil Explorer ONGC to provide aid to the disaster affected areas and also to keep the spirit of heritage and traditional monuments alive.
