Painting Competition on Energy Conservation

Mumbai: A state level Painting competition on Energy Conservation was held at SNDT Women’s University on 14thNovember 2017. The event was graced with the presence of Shri Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, CMD, MSEDCL, Shri Rajesh Kumar, Regional Executive Director, WR-1, NTPC Ltd and Dr Sasikala Wanjari (Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University). The event was held under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) and the Ministry of Power, Government of India. It may be mentioned around 1.6 lakh students participated in the school level from all over Maharashtra and the 100 selected students were invited to participate in the on spot competition held at the state level.
 
The competition was held in two categories:
 
In Category A (Classes 4 to 6), the top 3 honors went to Siddhi Mandar Dahitule (JB Vaccha High School for Parsi Girls, Dadar, Mumbai), Arya Hemant Rahate ( St. Paul’s High School, Dadar Mumbai) & Bharat Purohit (Ram Ratna Vidya Mandir, Bhayandar, Thane)
 
In Category B (Classes 7 to 9), the top 3 honors went to Aditi Patil (CKT Vidyalaya, New Panvel, Raigad), Prasad Angwalkar (Our Own School, Grant Road, Mumbai) & Abhishek Bandwalkar (Vitthal Madhyamik Vidyalaya,Baramati, Pune). The top 3 honors under each category were given Rs.20, 000 Rs.15, 000 and Rs.10, 000 respectively. 10 consolation prize winners from each category were awarded Rs.5, 000 each.
 
The top 3 winners of  Group A will now represent Maharashtra for the National level competition to be held at New-Delhi on 12th December while Top 3 Paintings of Group B shall be sent to New-Delhi for the final evaluation.
Addressing the gathering Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, IAS, CMD,MSEDCL and Rajesh Kumar, NTPC, Regional Executive Director, highlighted the need to conserve energy and the importance of educating it to the children. Dr. Sasikala Wanjari voiced the need to conserve energy as it benefits both people and the nation. The chief guests gave away the prizes to the winners.
 
Earlier, K. Ravindran, AGM (PR) gave a brief about the event.  Mrs. Namrata Narvekar, Dy. Manager,( HR) proposed the vote of thanks. The event was a great opportunity for the students to educate themselves and to exemplify their talent through creativity and imagination.
