PowerGrid builds 9,437 toilets in Clean India push
NEW DELHI . Power Grid Corporation of India has constructed 9,437 toilets at 4,244 schools in seven states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar and Chhattisgarh, in response to the `Clean India` call by the government. "PowerGrid constructed 9,437 toilets at 4,244 schools in seven states of Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh," the company said in a statement today.
Its efforts have been hailed by the power ministry, the firm added. The company has posted a net profit of Rs 1,448 crore for the September quarter, up 21 percent from Rs 1,201 crore in the same quarter last year. Total income for July-September rose to Rs 5,027 crore, up 17 percent, from Rs 4,309 crore in the year-ago period. PowerGrid is operating about 1,19,580 ckt km (circuit per km) of transmission lines, along with 197 sub-stations and transformation capacity of about 240,954 MVA (megavolt amperes) as on September 30, 2015.
