RTI Act completes ten years Move to restrict the misuse of RTI Act
Chennai. The Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited organized a one day seminar on Right to Information Act 2005 at Chennai recently to mark the occasion of the completion of 10 year period of the implementation of the Act and to update the information officers on the development of the Act in the current situation.
Shri Yashovardhan Azad said that this is the appropriate time for us to assess the changes, the Act has brought in the functioning of our Governments and the Public Sector Undertakings, he said. Shri Azad informed that the Restricting the misuse of RTI and Right to Privacy are other areas where the commission is planning to improve.
Shri Azad, said,that now developed nation are “impressed with the successful implementation of the RTI act in India,and Institutions like the World Bank and developed nations like the United States of America are also implementing the same.”
Shri Sarat Kumar Acharya, the CMD of NLC said that the tax payer is having all the rights to know how public money is spent by the Government. In NLC there is total transparency since it hosts all its information in its website.
Earlier Shri N. Muthu, Director (HR) i/c, NLC welcomed the gathering. Shri S. Sridhar, GM, PR, NLC and the Appellate Authority under RTI, NLC proposed vote of thanks. Shri E.Srinivasan, CPIO, NLC and Shri S.Shanmugasundaram, CM-Learning & Development Centre, NLC spoke.
