Shri Rajeev Sharma takes over as CMD of PFC
New delhi Shri Rajeev Sharma, has taken over the charge of ‘Chairman and Managing Director’ of Power Finance Corporation Ltd (PFC) with effect from 1st October, 2016. Shri Sharma succeeds Shri M.K. Goel who retired on 30th September, 2016 on attaining the age of superannuation.
Prior to joining PFC, Shri Sharma was the Chairman and Managing Director of Rural Electrification Corporation Ltd (REC). Under his dynamic leadership, Shri Sharma helped REC scale greater heights in excellence by doubling the revenue and profits in the last five years. He was Business Today’s choice of ‘Best CEO’ of a PSU. Shri Sharma is considered the architect of Government’s flagship schemes like DDUJY, RGGVY and RAPDRP.
Shri Rajeev Sharma holds B.Tech (Electrical) and Masters Degree in Engineering from IIT Roorkee and also Masters Degree in Business Administration from FMS, Delhi University. Shri Sharma has more than 30 years of experience and has served in various positions in CEA, Ministry of Power, POWERGRID & PFC (as Director, Projects).
In CEA, he was involved with the design, engineering and consultancy of Nathpa Jhakri HE Project (1500 MW). During his tenure as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Power, important projects like 2000 MW Talcher- Kolar HVDC Bipole and Tala Transmission System (first public private partnership) of POWERGRID were approved by the Government. He has also looked after APDRP, Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) apart from THDCIL, NEEPCO, BBMB and SJVNL
