WCL organized one day workshop on land and revenue

A day long workshop on land and revenue (L&R) was organized in Human resource department of Nagpur based Miniratna Public Sector enterprise Western Coalfields Limited (WCL). Dr. Ashok Gairola (IFS), Additional Principal Chief Conservator of forest and nodal officer, Maharashtra State, Nagpur, was the chief speaker of the programme. While addressing the participants Dr. Gairola said that the concerned officers should study and follow the government rules, regulations and guidelines issued from time to time. He elaborated the forest conservation act 1980 in detail. He further added that various minerals are found on 19 percent land of Maharashtra and the state contributes 3 percent of national mineral production. He also spoke on the concept of environmental clearance and wield life conservation.
 
While addressing the participants The chief guest of the programme, Shri. Rupak Dayal, Director (Personnel) of Western Coalfields Limited said that our company contributes around 7.58 % of national coal production and land is an integral part of our business. He advised the officers concerned to Land and Revenue department to follow the government rules and not to overlook the public interest.
 
Dr. P. K. Gandhi of VIKALP, Nagpur thrown light on community consultation for sustainable development in mining sector. Shri. A. K. Singh, General Manager (Land and Revenue department), WCL thrown light on land acquisition, assessment of land compensation, rehabilitation and resettlement benefits etc. The workshop was attended by the officers from all the areas of WCL. Welcome address and the vote of thanks was proposed by General Manager (HRD, WCL) Shri. M. K. Singh.
