GAIL (India) Ltd bags PPAC Greenfinch Data Excellence Award 2025

State-run GAIL has been conferred with the ‘PPAC Greenfinch Data Excellence Award 2025. Shri Asim Prasad, Chief General Manager (Corporate Strategy Planning Advocacy & Corporate Affairs), Shri Amitabh Ranjan, GM (CSPA), Ms. Priyanka Gupta, Chief Manager (CSPA), and Koushik Basu, Sr. Manager (CSPA) received the award on behalf of GAIL.

According to the press release, GAIL submits about 500 distinct data to PPAC monthly to generate eight reports. In 2024-25, the practice of data submission was further automated through the integration of API. The Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC), under the aegis of MoPNG, is responsible for collating industry data from various oil and gas companies in India related to the country's production, import, consumption, and export of oil and natural gas.

The data is used to generate periodic report that is used by the Oil & Gas Industry. The data is collated, processed, and disseminated to the public and private sector companies in the oil and gas sector.

On their 24th Foundation Day, PPAC rolled out the ‘PPAC Greenfinch Data Excellence Award’. They evaluated both the public and private sector companies based on a holistic approach comprising parameters related to data quality submitted by each company, assurance practices, data excellence metrics, data availability, accessibility, security, IT infrastructure, future readiness and innovation, etc. GAIL is committed to using technology to enhance data processing and report generation for various requirements.
